Copan was a major Mayan city and religious site from about 200AD to 452AD.
It is a 4 hour bus ride from Porto Cortez on the Caribbean shore of Honduras.
Macaws patrolled the entrance to the park
(as well as numerous
soldiers — the day we visited, the 7 presidents of the Central American Republics also visited Copan!)
