Our Tour of the Western Mediterranean
Day 4: Thursday, January 23: Civitavecchia & RomeWe took a bus from the port city of Civitavecchia to Rome.
Rome was an utter disappointment, as the bus whirled past the famous sights and left us in the middle of nowhere. No shops, no nearby restaurants, and only the Tiber River across a busy road. And nowhere to sit, either. For four hours!

The bus didn't stop at the famous sights, so it was hit-or-missas to whether one could see or photograph them.

The pizza place's potties were in the basement.

View of something from the bus stop area. Perhaps it wasSt. Peter's Basilica at the Vatican?

I took my life in my hands, and crossed the street to photograph the Tiber.
