Tour of Alaska

Day 11: Wednesday, August 2: From Anchorage, we rode the McKinley Explorer (Holland America's private train on the Alaska Railroad) to Denali National Park

The upper level. Reached by a steep spiral staircase — or by elevator.

The first railway car that I've ever seen that has an elevator!

The view out the back.

Lunchtime on the train

The Hurricane Gulch Bridge is a 918 ft (280 m) long steel arch railroad bridge that crosses Hurricane Gulch. It is located at milepost 284.2, counting from Seward. At 296 ft above the Hurricane creek, it is both the longest and tallest bridge on the entire Alaska Railroad.

We purchased "Mickey Moose" onboard the train.
