We decided to spend a Thanksgiving vacation visiting Puerto Rico.
November 28: Left Ponce, drove through the mountains and rain forest, going on winding up-and-down back roads

Some time before we reached this mountain lake, we accidentally got onto a side road (181 north of Patillas)
and wandered for quite a while before finally coming to San Lorenzo,
and then eventually onto 30.![]()
The road got narrower and narrower and hillier and hillier.
And the curves got curvier and curvier, but that didn't slow down the locals...![]()

Many towns custom-painted their power poles, traffic signals (see next photo),
bridges, bus stops, and other municipal structures in distinctive bands of color.![]()
