We decided to spend a Thanksgiving vacation visiting Puerto Rico.

November 28: Left Ponce, drove through the mountains and rain forest, going on winding up-and-down back roads

Inside the Hotel Melia

A flowering tree at the exit from the Hotel Melia's parking lot.

Some time before we reached this mountain lake, we accidentally got onto a side road (181 north of Patillas)
and wandered for quite a while before finally coming to San Lorenzo,
and then eventually onto 30.

The road got narrower and narrower and hillier and hillier.
And the curves got curvier and curvier, but that didn't slow down the locals...

Should they get another color car, or paint their mansion?

A Jeep planter.

Another one-horsepower lawn mower.

We ate lunch at a roadside burger joint.
It's a bit hard to see, but there's a jeep on the roof (to the left of the 3 signs).

Back in civilzation (San Lorenzo).
Many towns custom-painted their power poles, traffic signals (see next photo),
bridges, bus stops, and other municipal structures in distinctive bands of color.

These plants were in the divider between traffic lanes at a mall somewhere near the northeast corner of the island.
